Evang. La'Kanyere Harrison-Patton
Youth Pastor

I PETER 2:9

The Grace Apostolic Church young people ministry will be built on the foundation of six pillars: Christ center, holiness, oneness, servitude, equipped and empowerment, and next level. the six pillars create the word “CHOSEN”.

Youth Ministry Values

Introduce: Fulfilling God’s purpose of Evangelism (Acts 1:8) A huge part of our heart and passion for ministry lies in unsaved students. We believe that it is important for our ministry to focus on this un-reached group, present the gospel to them through relevant means, and introduce them to a saving belief in Christ.

Growth: Fulfilling God’s purpose of Discipleship (Hebrews 6:1; Matt. 28:18-20) Every student needs to grow spiritually. Part of our purpose is to provide students with an environment where they will be encouraged and aided toward hot spiritual maturity in Christ.

Lifestyle: Fulfilling God’s purpose of Worship (Romans 12:1) There are many aspects as it relates to worship. It includes singing, praying (Psalms 95:6), hearing the Word (John 17:17; Deut. 31:11), giving (1Corinthians 16:1-2), baptizing (Roman 6:3-4), meditating (Habakkuk 2:20), and so much more. Each of these are just as important as musical worship and should be approached and implemented as such since worship is more accurately an approach to life than an act on Sunday mornings.

Relationships: Fulfilling God’s purpose of Fellowship (Ephesians 2:19) A large majority of effective ministry takes place within the context of personal relationships with students. We believe it is vitally important for students to be plugged into a group of peers and adults where they can establish relationships of godly influences.

Service: Fulfilling God’s purpose of Ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12) Every student has been blessed with spiritual gifts provided by God for the edification of others When each of their unique gifts are implemented, both the ministry and the student will grow.

Programs and Descriptions

Friday Night Fire

Every month we will host a Friday Night Fire. The purpose of FNF is to build a relationship with the youth by creating an open dialogue in a trusting environment. During this session we will break the youth up into age groups and separate the boys from the girls.  We will start with prayer then break off into our groups. At the end of each session we will wrap up with worship song and prayer.  We will meet with the young people and talk about the many issues that they are facing and how to overcome those issues through Christ. We will be assisting the youth in creating Mini Tool boxes (boys)and Treasure kits (girls). The boxes will hold index cards with tabs. The index card will have scriptures and a prayer. The goal is to give the young people something tangible when they feel alone and don't feel like they can talk to anyone they can go back to what God word is and it will guide them on what to pray for.

Some of the topics will include...

* Breaking down the hype..

* What does it mean to be Saved..

* Shattering Perfection and Putting it all back together..

* What is Faith and Why it's important

We will also create open dialogue around the issues the Youth are facing

* Peer pressure

* Self Esteem

* Social Media

* Homosexuality/Sex

* Depression/Suicide

We will have Facilitator guides for the group Leaders to follow to ensure the message is delivered the same across the board and we really focus our message on what God says and not our own opinions.

Outings/Field Trips

As a part of retention we have fun events planned to keep the youth interested.  Once a quarter we will plan a fun outing for the youth. This Activity will be outside of the Church and will be things like Great Times, Kings Island, Youth retreats and Family Fun night at a community Center.

Project Serve

The second Saturday of every Month the youth spend time volunteering at the homes of the elderly. We will also do outside volunteer work with the Homeless shelters, Food Pantries and other Local organizations as well. We believe that this will give the Young People an opportunity to give back and learn humility, the most humbling thing a person can do is serve. This is a huge effort to bridge the gap between the elderly and young.

Cycle Breakers Young Men of Vision (Joel 3:1)

This is a program for young men between the ages of 12-20. Cycle Breakers is designed to help young men destroy the generational curses that have them bound in chains of darkness.. Curses like faithlessness, drugs, alcohol, abuse (child or woman), low self-esteem, promiscuity etc. It is our goal and objective to extinguish every generational curse that they have been brought under. It is also our premise to establish a generational blessing after the curse has been destroyed, which will allow them to begin their own lineage of Godly men. Cycle Breakers will be built off of relationship, fellowship and mentorship.
